Livestream Studio can create a new live event on Vimeo or stream to an event that you have already prepared in your Vimeo account. This guide covers both options.
Before you begin: Confirm that Livestream Studio is licensed and that your Vimeo account has live-streaming access. Connect and test your video and audio sources, confirm that the intended output appears in Program, and verify your network connection.
Create a new event from Livestream Studio
- Open Livestream Studio and select the Stream tab.
- Select Vimeo as the streaming destination. Sign in if prompted.
- Open Select Event and choose Create new (some versions label this New Event).
- Enter an event title and select the available audience/privacy setting under Share With.
- Optionally enable Schedule and specify a date and time. Scheduling displays event information; it does not automatically start the broadcast.
- Select an appropriate stream quality/bitrate for your available upload bandwidth. Review the streaming protocol and other options shown in your version of Studio.
- If needed, open Advanced Settings to select a particular network device; otherwise keep the default network.
- Confirm the correct content is in Program and that audio levels are active. When ready to broadcast, click Go Live at the bottom right.
Important: Events created directly from Studio are recurring events. A scheduled time is informational and does not automatically initiate streaming.
Stream to an event created in Vimeo
- In a browser, sign in to Vimeo and create a live event using the options available to your account. Set its title, audience, privacy, and scheduling options as appropriate.
- Open Livestream Studio, select Stream, choose Vimeo, and sign in to the same account.
- Open Select Event and select the event you created on Vimeo.
- Review stream quality, network settings, and the Program output; then select Go Live when ready.
Confirm the event is live
Open the event in Vimeo to confirm the Program video and audio are arriving. If the Vimeo event is configured to preview the stream before publishing it to viewers, you must also select Go Live on Vimeo's preview page. Verify the viewer-facing player, not only the Livestream Studio status.
End the broadcast
In Livestream Studio, click the red Streaming button to stop the encoder. If Vimeo provides a separate End event control for the event, finish the event there as appropriate. Confirm the broadcast has stopped before closing Studio.
Additional notes
- The exact names and positions of controls can vary by Livestream Studio version and Vimeo account configuration.
- If Vimeo is unavailable or your workflow uses a different service, configure that service as a supported destination (such as RTMP) using the destination's server URL and stream key; the Vimeo event-selection steps do not apply.
- For production events, test connectivity, audio, Program output, and any local recording before going live.
